House of Business Analysis

I’ve always been fascinated by the visual “house model” commonly used in disciplines like management and industrial engineering. These models are powerful because they help explain complex systems with a clear and structured visual metaphor.
Now, I’ve created one for the world of Business Analysis, fully grounded in the principles of the BABOK® Guide (Business Analysis Body of Knowledge).
🏠 The House of Business Analysis
This model visually represents how business analysts support organizations in delivering value through structured change.
At the top of the house is our ultimate goal:
“Enabling Value Through Meaningful Change.”
The house stands on a strong foundation, built on the Business Analysis Core Concept Model (BACCM™) and critical elements like Strategy Analysis, Change Strategy, and the Business Analysis Plan. These provide the structural integrity needed to support all analysis work.
Two main pillars support this structure:
- Solution Delivery & Value Realization
- Needs Assessment
- Requirements Life Cycle Management
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Decision Support & Solution Evaluation
- Elicitation & Collaboration
- Requirements Analysis & Design Definition
- Solution Evaluation
Each component is derived directly from the BABOK®’s six Knowledge Areas and core techniques. Together, they form a comprehensive framework that ensures all aspects of business analysis — from understanding needs to evaluating delivered solutions — are aligned and structured.
This house is more than a visual. It’s a framework for thinking, teaching, and practicing effective business analysis.
